So many departures,
so many homecomings...
We give thanks
there is a home
to come home to.
So much anxiety,
so many tears...
We give thanks
for life itself
and grieve
with those who mourn.
So much displacement
and so much mess...
We ask for resources and strength
to do the work of restoration.
We look at empty dams
and listen to the silent reminder
of the missing...
Author of Life,
We do not understand what has happened to us,
so we ask you:
Have mercy on us...
Write us into a story that gets better.
